The C-17 is the newest, most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force. It is capable of rapid strategic and tactical delivery of troops, battle hardware and humanitarian cargo directly to forward bases. The C-17 can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions and it can operate through small, unimproved airfields as demonstrated above.  The C-17 can take off and land on runways as short as 3,000 feet and as narrow as 90 feet wide. Even on such narrow runways, the C-17 can turn itself around using a three-point star turn and its backing capability.

The complete C-17 Flight Control System (FCS) and the C-17 Mission Control Computer (MCC) were designed and built by GE.  My role in the project was the software and platform design for functional testing over temperature of the power supplies used in both the Flight and Mission computers.
